Patricia “Patty” Melton Tayes, age 66, of Monterey, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Patty was born on Thursday, September 10, 1959, in Monterey, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas “Puter” Melton and Noble McCowan Melton; and her sister, Delene Keith.

Patty was a hardworking and dedicated woman who owned and operated her own cleaning service for over 30 years. She took great pride in her work and built lasting friendships with many of those she served throughout the community.

She was of the Christian faith and lived her life with kindness, generosity, and love for others. Patty was known for her honest nature, caring heart, and the fierce love she had for her family. She enjoyed working in her yard, spending time with her beloved dog, Abbey, watching television, and scrolling Facebook to keep up with family and friends. Anyone who knew Patty will surely remember her playful spirit and her favorite phrase, “I told you so.”

She is survived by her loving partner of 24 years, Jeff Potter; her daughter, Ashley (Daryl) Bennett; her step-grandchildren, Braelynn, Katelynn, and Brooklynn Bennett; and her siblings, Laddie (Brenda) Wilson and Pam Melton Sullins; along with many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her.

Patty’s family meant the world to her, and she loved them fiercely. Her warmth, laughter, and strong spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In accordance with Patty’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private graveside service for family will be held at a later date.
