The Sevierville Police Department responded to a pedestrian hit by a vehicle on I-40 last night (Sunday, February 21, 2021).

The preliminary investigation indicates two subjects were reportedly walking eastbound when one of them, a 48-year old woman, was struck by a 2020 Nissan Armada. The woman, who ultimately died, has no known address. Her name is being withheld pending notification of family. The man who was walking with her was uninjured.

The driver of the Nissan Armada, 35-year old Jennifer Stettner of Jonesboro, Tennessee was uninjured.

Interstate 40 east was reduced to one lane until about 10:15 p.m. as emergency personnel responded and investigated.

The investigation is ongoing.
