Perri Lynn Huckeby Capps, 62

Vaughn – Perri Lynn Huckeby Capps age 62 of Spring City, Tennessee, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at UT Medical Center.

Perri Lynn Huckeby was born in Livingston, Tennessee on September 29, 1962 to the late Gordon Ray Huckeby and Margaret Rich Huckeby. She was an only child. Perri Lynn attended Pickett County High School where she was a stand-out basketball player, winning four state championships in a row throughout her high school career (five if you include 8th grade). She holds many records at PCHS. She attended Motlow State, then Tennessee Tech University where she received her RN and BSN. She worked at multiple hospitals including Livingston, Rockwood, Fort Loudon, Athens, and Crossville. She served in many roles from ER nurse to nurse administration.

Perri Lynn was devoted to her husband Burton for 43 years. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren – they were her world. She was a member of Wolf Creek Baptist Church, where she was a greeter for the early service, taught Sunday School, and loved her women’s Bible study that was called“Cracked Pots”. After surviving breast cancer in 2002, she found out she had lung cancer in April 2025.

She is survived by her husband Burton Lynn Capps of Spring City; her son Robert Ray Capps (wife Valerie) and granddaughters Audra and Adelynn Capps; her son James Huckeby Capps (wife Lindsay) and grandsons Tucker Capps and Carson Kilby; aunt Sandra Rich, and uncle Kelly Rich.

There will be a gathering of friends on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at Wolf Creek Baptist Church. Her ashes will be buried with her family in Cope Cemetery in Byrdstown, Tennessee at a later date.
