Phillip Duran Tollett, 76

Phillip Duran Tollett, a beloved pastor and family man, passed away on May 1, 2025, leaving the world a little less bright. Born in Rockwood, Tennessee, on July 16, 1948, Phillip dedicated his life to serving others and spreading the word of God. His journey led him to serve the Centertown United Methodist, New Short Methodist, Allens Chapel Methodist, and Buckners Methodist churches, creating lasting impacts on each congregation. Phillip was a man of many interests, with a love for fishing, woodworking, shooting guns, and losing himself in the riveting tales of Louis L’Amour. He lived a life that embodied the words of Albert Schweitzer, “The only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve.” Phillip is survived by his children, Amy Smith (Steve), Jonathan Tollett (Rachell), and Jeremy Tollett (Beverly); and brothers, Vic and Tim Tollett. He was a proud grandfather of 11 and a great-grandfather of 15, each of whom he adored. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Alma Tollett, and his loving wife, Luanna Tollett. As John Donne once wrote, “Every man’s death diminishes me, for I am involved in mankind,” and so, Phillip’s passing leaves a void for all those who knew and loved him. The visitation service will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 2:00 pm CDT at Tolletts Chapel Global Methodist Church, located at 95 Tabor Loop, Crossville, Tennessee, 38571. The funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 4:00 pm CDT. As we gather to say our final goodbyes, we will remember Phillip not for his departure, but for the life he lived, the love he shared, and the lives he touched. In the words of Emily Dickinson, “Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality.” Phillip’s legacy will continue in the stories we share, the memories we cherish, and the love we hold in our hearts. We invite you to leave your memories and upload photos to the memorial page as we join together to celebrate the extraordinary life of Phillip Tollett.
