PROBE FINDS TN VETERANS AFFAIRS WORKERS INVOLVED IN SEXUAL MISCONDUCT

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WZTV) — The House Committee on the Veterans Affairs investigation into the Mountain Home VA Medical Center in East Tennessee tells FOX 17 News new bombshell claims.
The committee says 12 employees engaged in sexual relations at the same time, one worker had relations with more than 30 co-workers, some of this played out on VA property and some involved are still employed.
Rep. Mike Bost (R- Illinois), Chair of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs, sat down with us this week to provide an update on the investigation, which started in July, after he was made aware of details from whistleblowers and other allegations.
“Sexual harassment and misconduct has no place in the VA,” Rep. Bost emphasized multiple times throughout the interview.
These employees are taxpayer funded, hired to take care of veterans.
Rep. Bost says some involved are no longer employed, but adds the investigation shows 15 women who were involved in sexual misconduct on property still have jobs.
“What they do in their private lives, [is] none of my, none of our business, but we have to make sure that the VA facilities we have are focused on the mission and that’s taking care of the veterans, not participating in something as embarrassing and just wrong as this is,” the representative said.
FOX 17 News is told the House Committee will continue to press the current administration on making things right by the veterans, and will press the incoming administration to do the same if necessary.
The Illinois republican adds his “committee can continue to press through oversight and bringing public awareness to make sure that this is not tolerated in our VA system. We need to make sure that veterans have enough trust in the VA system to know that the people that do this stuff are not going to be the people taking care of them.”
