Cookeville police arrested Putnam County Deputy James David Gibbons last night for DUI and violation of the implied consent law. His bond was initially set at $1,500. Gibbons has been a deputy since 1992.

Sheriff Farris said, “I am terribly disappointed with the decision Deputy Gibbons chose and the behavior he displayed.” Sheriff Farris also stated Gibbons has been placed on administrative leave with pay temporarily pending an internal investigation.
