RECALL ON RADIOACTIVE SHRIMP EXPANDS EVEN FURTHER

Federal regulators have announced a recall of frozen raw shrimp from Sea Port Products Corp. due to potential contamination with Cesium-137, a radioactive isotope that can damage DNA and increase cancer risk with repeated low-dose exposure. The recall involves Sea Port brand Frozen Raw Easy Peel White Shrimp (jumbo size, 16/20 count per pound) distributed in small volumes to independent retailers in Alaska, California, Hawaii, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and American Samoa between July 10 and September 22.
No illnesses have been reported.
The affected products can be identified by specific lot codes and UPC barcodes on the packaging. This recall follows recent discoveries of Cesium-137 in shrimp shipments from Indonesia, flagged by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, affecting products sold at major retailers like Walmart and Kroger.
Consumers are advised not to consume the recalled shrimp and to return it for a refund or dispose of it, with inquiries directed to Sea Port Products at 425-896-0186 during business hours.
