ROANE COUNTIAN ONE OF TWO CHARGED WITH THEFT

One from Roane County and another from Hawkins County are facing several charges after allegedly stealing hundreds of dollars of meat from a Food City location in Anderson County. The store manager told officers he caught 38-year-old Richard J. Freer of Kingston and 27-year-old Brittany N. Cureton of Bulls Gap putting meat into a backpack. Freer allegedly shoved the manager after he was confronted but both were held until police arrived. A search of the vehicle the two were in reportedly turned up meats from locations like Kroger, Ingles and Food City. The two in a couple of incidents allegedly managed to take nearly $1,000 in meats from locations. Freer was charged with assault, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, vandalism and two counts of theft of property. Cureton was arrested for resisting arrest and two counts of theft of property.
