ROANE COUNTY DEPUTY RECEIVES THE LIFE SAVING AWARD

On July 27th RCSO School Resource Officer Deputy Anthony Hughes stopped by Dyllis Springs Elementary to speak with Principal Kim Bridges. While speaking with her, Angela Moran ran into the office saying her daughter was choking. Hughes sprinted to the child’s location and found Hope Moran in distress, unable to breathe. Hughes immediately performed the Heimlich maneuver, dislodging a piece of candy from her throat. Last night at the school board meeting, RCSO Chief Deputy Tim Hawn and SRO Supervisor Capt. Daryl Cook presented SRO Deputy Hughes with the 2022 RCSO Life Saving Award. Deputy Hughes’ quick thinking, immediate response, and correct application of the technique quite possibly saved this young lady’s life.
