Robert Donald (Don) White, 84

Robert Donald (Don) White, 84, a long time resident of Kingston, was peacefully received in the arms of Jesus Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at his home with family, including his fur baby BJ, by his side. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Kingston. He served as a Kingston City Councilman for 37 years. Don retired from Rockwood Electric Utility (REU) after 34 years of service. He loved his career and remained close to his REU family after retirement. He was a member of the IBEW Local No. 846 of Chattanooga and IBEW Local No. 760 of Knoxville.

After retirement, Don enjoyed 18 years working on race cars with his best friend James Vanover and spending weekends at the Atomic Speedway Dirt Track battling it out on the track in his #76 modified Thunderbird with a dedicated pit crew standing by and his wife Brenda in the stands videoing every minute. Many nights ended with a checkered flag and trophy. Don was always ready for a car show and couldn’t wait to spend time camping every spring and fall in anticipation of the Rod Run. If Don wasn’t at home, he was usually within a 20-mile radius at the Public Works Department, Hamil’s shop, Fire Department, a friend’s house or somewhere eating with friends.

Don was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Kay Cantrell White: parents, Cecil & Elizabeth White; sister, Joyce Pierce, son Robby White and best friend James Vanover.

He is survived by daughter, Christi Locklear & husband, Mitch of Raeford, NC; stepdaughter, Chasity Boatwright & husband, Gerald of Kingston; grandchild, Shelly White of Midway; sister Carol Nall & husband, Bob of Kingston and his fur baby of 8 years, BJ. Don was surrounded by devoted friends and family who faithfully showed up for him each day. During his final six months, they cared for him with love and quiet dedication, tending to every need—often before he even had to ask. Their kindness and steadfast presence were a true reflection of the community he built and cherished.

Thank you, Richard Vanover, Sog Strange, Ron Letsinger, Harold Holloway, Phil Harvey, John Andriulli, Tony Walker, Jim Nall, Tim Clark, Kingston Utilities, Fire and Police Department and so many more. We extend our deepest gratitude to Pastor Randy Griffis for his faithful care, compassionate spirit, and prayerful support throughout Don’s journey. Your ministry and presence were a blessing beyond measure, and we will remain forever grateful. A very special thanks to the University of Tennessee Medical Center Palliative Care and Hospice Services for the exceptional medical care and compassionate medical team.

The family will receive friends 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Monday, November 10, 2025 Liberty Baptist Church with funeral service following with Rev. Randy Griffis officiating. Interment will follow at Kingston Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Liberty Baptist Church, PO Box 447 Kingston TN 37763.
