Robley Duane Duncan, 64

Robley Duane Duncan was born in Roane County, Tennessee on July 11, 1960 and passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024 at his home in Coafield, Tennessee with his wife at his side.

Robley Duane was named after his grandfather Robley Dunglison Evans, who gave him the nickname Hotsy; a nickname that stayed with him throughout his life.

Hotsy was preceded in death by his father, Robert R. Duncan, his grandparents Bob and Jeannie Evans and Ester and Laford Harness.

Hotsy is survived by his wife, Lisa Lane Duncan; the two having described each other as their first and only true love.

Hotsy is survived by his children Tyler Duane Duncan and wife Sara, Travis Blain Duncan and wife Mercedes, and Charles Tory Duncan and wife Halle. He is also survived by his stepchildren Erica Stanfield and husband Tim and Justin Byrd.

Hotsy is survived by his mother Emily Evans Duncan, his brother Anthony Duncan and wife Natasha, and his sister Jennifer Monroe and husband Michael; mother-in-law Billie Lane; brother-in-law Dusty Lane and wife Cheryl.

Hotsy has 17 grandchildren that he greatly loved. His grandchildren are Aiden Ray, Lily Jo, Addie Jane, Jessie Tyler, Jase, Alaina, Noah, Kade,  Maverick Robley, Jake, Karsyn, Sadie, Ian, Teagan, Tilly, Cole, and Clara.

Hotsy also survived by his Nieces:  Ella Monroe and Maddie Duncan  Nephews:  Isaac Monroe and Will Duncan.

There was only one Hotsy and he belonged to our family.

Hotsy retired as the Superintendent of Communications and Signal Construction for Norfolk Southern Railroad where he enjoyed a long and accomplished career. Along with the many treasured friendships forged throughout his career, Hotsy was thankful and proud to have been able to help numerous young people from his community gain employment at Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Hotsy’s family offers a special thank you to John Justice for his close friendship and unwavering support of Hotsy and Lisa; especially as Hotsy’s infirmity progressed…you were always there and we are grateful. Hotsy was also survived by many other close friends who he loved dearly.

Having been a Christian since his youth, Hotsy was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield, Tennessee at the time of his passing,  Hotsy was a long time member of the Petros First Baptist Church before he moved to Coalfield and attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and he was good friends with Jim West.  He also was a member of the Sun Rise Eastern Star #364 in Petros.

Hotsy’s funeral will be officiated by Reverand Kenny Raines and Reverand Roy Langley.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 22, 2024 at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service prior to the funeral service starting at 6:00 p.m. with Reverand Kenny Raines and Reverand Roy Langley officiating. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in the New Petros Cemetery, Cemetery Road,  Petros.
