Roland F. “Tim” Welles, 84

Funeral Services for Roland F. “Tim” Welles, age 84, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and formerly of Rickman, Tennessee, will be conducted on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 12:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Pastor Matthew Tuttle and Pastor Eric Fox will officiate with interment to follow in the Phillips Cemetery in the Anderson Community. Tim was the third of three sons born to Lemuel and Lucy Belle Crosby Welles in Warsaw, New York, on Monday, December 23, 1940. He grew up and lived in the Arcade, New York, area for nearly 60 years. He passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, at University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee. Tim married his lifelong love, Miriam Martin, on February 23, 1963. Their beautiful and exemplary marriage lasted for nearly 60 years. The Lord blessed Tim and Miriam with their three sons, Joel, Dan, and Tim. During the early-mid 1960s, Tim proudly served his country with the Army National Guard for three years. Tim was a long time “Fisher-Pricer” working at the Holland and East Aurora plants, as well as truck-driving for Fisher-Price Toys for several years. In 1996, Tim and Miriam left Western New York and moved to Tennessee to be close to their son Tim and his wife Kelly, hoping that grandchildren would be arriving in the not-too-distant future. Tim was not a recognized man of stature in the communities where he lived, nor was he awarded college degrees, or achieve significant financial status. His most recognized life achievements were his gentleness, humility, compassion, and respectfulness. However, most importantly, he passionately served God and deeply loved his family. Tim was a long-time member of the Rickman First Free Will Baptist Church where he and Miriam worshiped, fellowshipped with many of their closest friends, and continued to grow their faith. Tim was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brothers, Bob and Pat. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Joel (Mary) of Monterey, TN, Dan (Lisa) of Bear Creek, NC, and Tim (Kelly) of Knoxville, TN; and four grandchildren, Nick, Timothy, Emily Ann, and JR. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in memory of Tim to the Rickman First Free Will Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at Goff Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 10:00 AM until time of services at 12:00 PM. Arrangements and Care provided by D.M.
