Ronald Lee Burgess (Ron), age 65, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Born on August 24, 1959, Ron was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He was a member of North Rockwood Baptist Church and a 1977 graduate of Harriman High School. Ron spent much of his working years in the grocery store business, where he built lasting friendships as the manager of Harrell’s IGA in Harriman. Known for his sense of humor, Ron was a joy to all who met him. Most importantly, he accepted Jesus as His Savior, and his faith never wavered despite the continuous suffering that he endured. His words to his medical team in his last days were, “I know the Lord. I’m ready to go.”

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, R.P. and Hazel Burgess; sisters Dianna Connelly and Wanda Burgess; brothers Rubben Burgess Jr., Mike Burgess, Ricky Burgess, Kevin Burgess; and sisters-in-law; Macie Burgess, Vickie Burgess, and Eleda Burgess.

Son: Caleb Burgess (Macy) of Sevierville

Granddaughter: Evie Mae Jackson of Lenoir City

Doug Burgess of Kingston

Sisters-in-law: Tonia Burgess of Westel

Cindy Burgess of Harriman

Brothers-in-law: Don Connelly (Glenda) of Indiana

Donnie Wilson of Harriman

Chris Mullins (Heather) of Quebec

And a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2024, at the North Rockwood Baptist Church in Rockwood, TN. The home-going service will follow at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to North Rockwood Baptist Church Mission Fund, 1300 North Gateway Ave. Rockwood, TN 37854. The Burial will follow the next day, November 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Roane Memorial Gardens in Rockwood, TN. Evans Mortuary is serving the Burgess Family.
