Roy G. Young, Sr. departed this life on March 25, 2026, at his home in Robbins Tn. He was born on July 2, 1948, in Sunbright, TN.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life Sharlyn Thompson Young; parents, Alpha Maiden Young and William Gilbert Young, Sr. of the Mill Creek Community in Morgan County. He is also preceded by his sister Neva Edwards and her husband JD of Wartburg TN.; sister Willie Lane Young of Sunbright, TN., William Gilbert Young, Jr. and wife Wilda of Sunbright, TN.; nephew David Edwards of Wartburg, TN.

He is survived by son, Roy G. Young Jr of Sunbright, TN.; brother James E. Young and wife Glenda Jo of Sunbright, TN.; nephews, Don Edwards and Wife Donita of Sunbright, and Danny Young and wife Joyce of Sunbright Tn.; nieces Kay Austin and husband Andy of Summerville SC, and Loretta and husband Bob, of Sunbright TN. Roy is also survived by special Friends, Jimmy Byrd, Danny Perry, Joe Storey and Wesley Chambers of Robbins and Many other family and friends.

Roy retired from the Scott County Schools as a bus driver and as a farmer in the Robbins Community. He was an avid hunter and gardener. He loved his church family at Mt Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert B Lowe and his staff for their care and compassion in his final illness. Brenda Smith and Colby Brooks with Quality Hospice as well as all the other nurses and staff at Quality Hospice, and Home Health. We would like to thank Nanette Goodman and Jennifer Kidd for their care and compassion in dads final days. We would also like to thank the members at Mt. Pleasant MB for their compassion and support to Roy in his later years. Jimmy Byrd and daughter Sarah for the singing as well as minister Don Edwards.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Robbins from 4:00-6:00 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 6:00 p.m. with Bro. Don Edwards officiating. Graveside services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Diamond Cemetery in Robbins.
