Funeral Services for Ruby Phillips, age 90, of Cookeville, Tennessee, and formerly of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM from The Chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Bro. Danny Lane will officiate with interment to follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Phillips was born on Wednesday, May 22, 1935, in Putnam County, Tennessee, to the late Thurman and Roxie King Tinch. Mrs. Phillips passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at NHC Healthcare of Cookeville. Mrs. Phillips was a devoted minister’s wife. She traveled to many states and surrounding community towns supporting her husband’s ministry. She was a member of Union Grove Freewill Baptist Church, enjoyed reading, and was a Monterey High School graduate. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Byron and Mary Phillips of Cookeville, TN; grandchildren, Tyron (and Sheridan) Phillips, Jacob (and Janetta) Phillips; great grandchildren, Wayland Phillips and Reese Phillips; sister-in-law, Shirley Tinch of Indianapolis, IN; and brother-in-law, John Umbarger of Monterey, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Umbarger; and brother, Charles Tinch.
