SAM MCCARTT NAMED NEW HEAD COACH OF LADY EAGLES AT OAKDALE HIGH SCHOOL
BBBTV12 – Oakdale High School has named longtime educator and coach Sam McCartt as the new head coach of the Lady Eagles basketball team, the school announced today.
McCartt, a veteran of Oakdale athletics, takes over following the departure of Fred Snow, who led the girls basketball program for an impressive 47 years before being let go last month in a move that surprised many in the community.
While McCartt is best known for his 15-year tenure as a football coach, he also brings a background in basketball. He previously spent two seasons as an assistant with the Lady Eagles and served eight seasons as an assistant coach under Travis Nelson with the Oakdale boys basketball program. During that time, the boys team captured multiple district and regional championships and made a state tournament appearance.
School officials cited McCartt’s deep ties to the athletic program and his experience in both football and basketball as key factors in the hiring decision.
Off-season workouts for the Lady Eagles are expected to begin later this month as preparations get underway for the 2025 season.
