A commercial truck driver appeared on the Cumberland County General Sessions Court docket today following a traffic stop on Interstate 40 that uncovered narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and synthetic urine.

According to court documents and an affidavit filed by Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Nicholas Steenbock, dispatch issued a “be-on-the-lookout” (BOLO) alert shortly after noon on May 27, 2026, for an erratic semi-truck driving at slow speeds near the 311-mile marker on I-40 East.

Trooper Steenbock located the matching semi-truck near the 320-mile marker. After observing the rig nearly force a black sedan into the median, the trooper initiated a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Christopher Darron Woods (born Feb. 11, 1982), initially stopped the commercial vehicle in the active left traffic lane before being guided safely to the shoulder.

When questioned about his driving, Woods claimed he was sleepy. However, a warrant check revealed Woods had an active out-of-state warrant with full extradition for drug-related offenses out of DeSoto County, Mississippi.

Upon placing Woods under arrest, officers discovered a bottle of synthetic urine on his person. A subsequent search of the semi-truck yielded:

• Multiple bags containing a clear white powder (suspected methamphetamine)

• A bag of a green leafy substance (suspected marijuana)

• Two additional bottles of synthetic urine

• Drug paraphernalia, including a glass pipe with residue, digital scales, and a tray

At the county jail, Woods underwent Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), which officers reported he performed unsatisfactorily.
