U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander is recovering from surgery this afternoon, following surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

According to his surgeon, Alexander had an atypical lipoma removed from his left leg. The surgeon reported the surgery went well.

David Cleary, Alexander’s chief of staff reported the senator is looking forward to returning to Senate work shortly after the recess.
