Tennessee Senator Ken Yager is pursuing recovery initiatives and funds for Sunbright to help following an EF-1 tornado.

It hit Sunbright on April 2, 2024, causing damage to businesses and a few homes.

Unfortunately, the destruction does not meet Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) standards to receive funding.

Senator Yager said that given the small population of Sunbright and its limited resources, there is growing concern regarding recovery efforts because of lack of funding, He added he is doing everything possible on the state level to give Sunbright more resources to build back their community.

Senator Yager appreciates Representative Butler’s support in sponsoring these efforts in the House of Representatives.
