Sonnie Brown Lewis, Jr., 81

Sonnie Brown Lewis, Jr. was born on November 21, 1944 in Pikeville, TN to the late Clara Simms Lewis and Sonnie Brown Lewis, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his sisters- Mary Lewis, Mildred Lewis Myers, Jean Flitter, Anna Mae Clark, and Billie Ray Wolfe; brother- Larry Allen Lewis; and last, but certainly not least, the love of his life, his beautiful wife, Reba Dean Hall Lewis, who he was so lucky to be married to for 48 years before she left this world for Heaven. Sonnie is survived by his sisters- Juanita Bilbrey and Margaret Wightman; brother- William B Lewis; daughters- Nancy “Ruthie” Potter (Terry) and Melissa Riley (Marty); grandchildren- Coty Alan Reynolds, Cassandra Reynolds, Terry Lynn Potter Jr. (Cassie), and Samantha Potter; and two amazing great grandchildren- Madison Hampshire and Blakely Noelle Potter. Sonnie loved the Lord and it showed in everything he did. He prayed for everyone and loved everyone – even those who had hurt him. He loved his girls and their families and made sure they knew it. God saved Sonnie in a mighty way – waited until he was in his 70’s and found a way to get his attention. He had been a drinker all his life, but God took that craving away the very minute he accepted Jesus as his Savior. He showed his girls what a real dad was, one that didn’t drink, that loved the Lord, and showed forgiveness and love. He will be missed by so many; he had so many friends whom he loved very much- Bill, Owen, James, Buddy, Alfred, Chris, Ronald, Jackie, the old crew from Bush Construction- Levi, Travis, Jim, and Rubarb. Sonnie loved his church family also- Andrew, Bonnie, Tim, Becky, Pat, Angie and the kids, but he loved Rachel the most. They were the best of friends. We shouldn’t cry that Sonnie is gone – we should rejoice that he is in Heaven with Jesus and his family, walking the streets of gold and never being in pain again. We will miss him, but we need to follow his life and join him at the end of ours. Services will be held at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00pm, with the service to follow at 2pm, Andrew Lewis officiating. He will be laid to rest in Bolin Cemetery immediately following the service.
