SPEAKER SEXTON FORMING COMMITTEE TO REVIEW REFUGEE RESETTLEMENTS IN TENNESSEE
Tennessee Speaker of the House Cameron Sexton and Lt. Governor Randy McNally will form a joint study committee to investigate refugee resettlement and immigration in the state.
The group will investigate recent reports of unaccompanied immigrant minors entering through the Chattanooga and Knoxville airport in the early hours of the morning.
A plane thought to be carrying unaccompanied migrant children in the custody of the U.S. government landed just before midnight Friday at McGhee Tyson Airport.
The group will also evaluate the number of migrant minors permanently relocated to the state, as well as those passing through. The committee will also find ways to increase transparency as it relates to the federal government’s migrant relocation program.
