STATE LAW SAYS POSTERS AND SIGNS PROHIBITED ON UTILITY POLES
Volunteer Energy Cooperative (VEC) wishes to remind citizens you cannot place posters or signs on utility poles.
Tennessee Code § 2-19-144 is a state law that prohibits anyone from attaching a “show card, sign, poster, or advertising material or device, including election campaign literature” to a utility pole, including VEC electric poles.
The photo used in this story shows how the sign was attached to the pole in front of the corporate office for VEC. The sign not only poses a fall risk to our line workers, but it could lead to lacerations as well.
Please do not attach signs to utility poles. If you have a sign attached to a pole, please take time to remove it.
