SUMNER COUNTY BUS DRIVER ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE AFTER CRASH
According to WSMV, Sumner County school bus driver Pamela Harris was placed on administrative leave after crashing a bus into a creek, injuring at least five students. The incident occurred when Harris hit a bridge, causing the bus to flip into a dry creek bed. She was cited with a Class C misdemeanor for failing to exercise due care.
Harris, a 30-year district veteran, faces potential termination or additional training pending a review. The crash has prompted calls for road safety improvements and a review of bus routes. The Tennessee Highway Patrol has not yet determined the cause, but the injured students are expected to recover.
