The Lake Tansi Exchange Club invites the community to experience a breathtaking tribute at the 4th Annual Crossville Field of Honor®, taking place Saturday, November 8 through Saturday, November 15 at Garrison Park, 542 4th Street, Crossville, TN. This powerful and moving display is free to the public and open daily for all to walk among more than 700 American flags, each symbolizing service, sacrifice, and honor. Each flag in the Field of Honor represents a story – a tribute to veterans, living or deceased. Every flag will bear a customized placard with a heartfelt dedication, reminding us that freedom is not free and that America’s strength lies in its unity, symbolized by the Stars and Stripes. Flag Sponsorships Individuals can sponsor a flag for $35, with the option to take it home after the event or have it shipped. To sponsor a flag in honor of a loved one, contact Judi Hartman at (931) 337-5465. Business Sponsorships Corporate and community organizations are encouraged to support this impactful event through sponsorship packages. For more details, reach out to Dan Smith, Fundraising Chair, at (502) 292-7137. Volunteer Opportunities Creating a display of this magnitude takes a village. Community members who wish to volunteer or participate in the event’s planning are invited to contact Jean Smith, Event Coordinator, at (502) 758-3593. Giving Back to Our Veterans Proceeds from the 2025 Field of Honor will benefit the Cumberland County Veterans Assistance Council (CCVAC) and other local nonprofits supporting veterans. About the Exchange Club of Lake Tansi The Exchange Club of Lake Tansi is a local chapter of the national Exchange Club network, dedicated to improving communities through programs focused on Americanism, Community Service, Youth Programs, and the Prevention of Child Abuse. The Friends group of Cumberland Mtn State Park (CMSP) is bringing back the popular Wings to Soar raptor educational program Sunday Nov. 9 at the Recreation Lodge with two shows: 1:30 and 3pm. The addition of a second showing to this family friendly free event will hopefully take care of the increased number of those attending! The birds fly overhead so late entry is not permitted. Space is limited so seating is on a first come, first served basis. “Wings to Soar’s mission is to create awareness of the vital role birds of prey play in nature” said Laurie Snyder of the Friends group. “The program provides a unique view of the birds because they fly over the audience’s heads. Co-directors John stokes and Dale Kernahan hope to spark curiosity and create a sense of value for all forms of life” she added. The educational program may include raptors such as a bald eagle, barn owl, American kestrel, screech owl, red-tailed hawk, vulture and the popular albino white owl. Photos with the albino owl are permitted at the end of the program! Wings to Soar is headquartered in Rock City, GA.
