TENNESSEE TITANS UNVEIL PLANS FOR NEW STADIUM

NFL team Tennessee Titans are getting a new stadium. The Titans expect groundbreaking on the new stadium to happen in 2024, by midyear.  The Titans’ website says the new stadium will be built on the east side of the current stadium.  Officials also expect construction on the new stadium to be finished by 2027.

This new stadium will better benefit the city of Nashville, according to the Titans.  Currently, Metro Nashville is required to pay for stadium upgrades and maintenance. But with the new deal, that will not be the case.

In the future, the city will no longer have to pay for the Titans’ team or stadium.  Instead, funding will come from football-related sources, such as the Titans themselves, the NFL and PSLs. The state of Tennessee will also give a one-time contribution. In addition, stadium and campus sales taxes will go toward the stadium, as well as 1% of hotel and motel taxes from tourists.

The Titans also say the new plan will allow for more greenery and parks, neighborhoods and infrastructure. “The new lease would return valuable acres of riverfront land to the city in order to develop a transformational riverfront project built with locals in mind, generating millions for Nashville’s highest priorities,” the Titans’ website said.

The new stadium will be enclosed, 1.75 million square feet, and having a capacity of 62,000. Officials also said they will prioritize local businesses, goods and labor during construction.

The lease on the new stadium will last for 30 years, according to officials.
