Teresa Ann “Terri” (Buckner) Sitton, loving wife of Robert L. Sitton, died at the age of 61 on January 2, 2022, in the care of Cumberland House, a facility of Hospice of Cumberland County. Terri was born the only child of Doyle Dean Buckner and Mary Katherine (Hinds) Boggs in Crossville, Tennessee on a snowy February 20, 1960. Terri is survived by her loving husband Robert L. Sitton, stepson, Jason L. Sitton (wife, Sonya), mother and stepfather, Mary Katherine and Walter “Papa Walt” Boggs of Pfafftown, NC, uncle, Nick Hedgecoth, stepmother, Burxie Copeland, and sisters of the heart, Angie Ramey and Patsy Adams. Terri is also survived by Clay Sitton, brother-in-law (wife, Betty Jestice Sitton), Michael Sitton, brother-in-law, and Pamela Sitton French, sister-in-law. Terri was predeceased by her father Doyle Dean Buckner, favorite aunt, Verna (Hinds) Hedgecoth and sister-in-law, Rose (Sitton) McCoy.

Music played a huge part of Terri’s life and her faith from the time she began playing piano in church as a preteen. She was often a featured soloist in her church choirs and sang during both regular worship services and special programs. That love of music and performing carried over into her education, and Terri enjoyed the opportunity to join both band and choir as well as being a featured performer in Musical Moods during all four years that she attended CCHS.

Terri was a graduate of Tennessee Tech with a degree in accounting, and she began a long and storied career in banking right after graduation. Terri always said the best part of her career was getting to know and help the people of her community through some of both the happiest and saddest occasions of their lives, and many of her customers appreciated her caring attitude and expert guidance so much that they became lifelong friends.

After her retirement, one of Terri’s greatest pleasures was taking road trips with her husband Robert while they explored the back roads and parks of her beautiful home state of Tennessee. She was also an avid reader and a talented crafter who worked with many mediums, and she would never hesitate to remind her family that she was the “sweet one,” a claim they questioned frequently when it came time to gather around the family card table on Saturday nights. But the most important element in Terri’s life was always her faith. Even when poor health made her unable to attend worship services in person, she studied her Bible and her devotionals daily and always put her relationship with God first in her life.

The family will receive friends and hold a memorial service at Bilbrey Funeral Home on Monday, January 10, 2022. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.

All visitors wishing to pay their respects will be required to wear masks, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Terri’s memory to Hospice of Cumberland County, 30 E. Adams St, Crossville, TN 38555.
