TROOPERS RESPOND TO VEHICLE CRASH WITH INJURIES ON I-40 IN PUTNAM COUNTY

The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to a two vehicle accident yesterday on I-40 in Putnam County. Trooper Michael Robertson says a 2003 Lexus driven by 31-year-old Blake Taylor of Knoxville and a 2016 Nissan Altima operated by 42-year-old Esperanza Bernardo of Smithville were both heading west at the 277 mile marker when Taylor stopped on the shoulder to make a U-turn to travel east in the westbound lanes. Taylors car collided with the Nissan. Bernardo and a 15-year-old passenger sustained injuries in the crash. Taylor was charged with DUI, reckless driving, violation of the open container law, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
