TWO DEPUTIES INDICTED ON EXCESSIVE FORCE CHARGES

Two law enforcement officers in the state have been indicted by a federal grand jury on excessive force charges. The charges are against 59-year-old Chief Deputy Anthony “Tony” Bean and 29-year-old Sergeant Anthony “T.J.” Bean, both with the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department. Both face one count of deprivation of rights under color of law. They are accused of injuring a person under arrest in December 2017. Anthony “Tony” Bean is also charged with using unreasonable force during an August 2014 arrest when he was chief of the Tracy City Police Department. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
