TWO TDOT WORKERS KILLED, ONE TROOPER INJURED IN SHELBY COUNTY ACCIDENT

(DEVELOPING STORY) – Two Tennessee Department of Transportation workers died in a crash involving multiple vehicles on I-40 in Shelby County near mile marker 26 near Airline. The crash occurred just before 4 a.m. and I-40 is expected to be closed at the scene for a while. The two contracted employees worked for A & A Safety out of Ohio. The contractor was working in a mobile work zone within a lane closure, replacing snow plowable markers along the interstate. A Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper was also injured in the crash, and was taken to a Memphis-area hospital where his condition is currently not available. This is a developing story and more information, including the names of those involved, will be released at a later time.
