Virginia T. Evans, age 99 of Rockwood, went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, August 9th, 2026. She was born on June 29th, 1927. She retired after 34 years of service with the state of Tennessee as the office manager for the Tennessee Dept. of Employment Security. She was a member of Asbury Methodist Church in the Eureka community of Rockwood, TN. She served the church in a number of roles, and taught adult Sunday school for 40+ years.

After she retired from the state, she was involved in the operations of Evans Mortuary with her son and late husband since 1976.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Charlie Teague & Alma Keith Teague; husband: Thomas R.  “Bob” Evans Sr; brother: Jimmie “Bud” Teague; daughter-in-law: Hyda Evans. She is survived by:

Granddaughters: Misty Reagan (Michael), Lindsey Lewallen (Brad)

Grandson: Aylor Evans (Jessica)

Great-Grandchildren: Rhett Nelson (Olivia), Aidan Lewallen, Lydia Lewallen

Great-Great-Grandchildren: Walker Nelson & Millie Nelson

Special Family Friends: Phyllis Thompson, Mary & John Rinke, Rev. Paul Johnston & Betty Johnston, and the rest of her Asbury family

and a host of other extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 13th, 2026, from 5:00 pm ET – 8:00 pm ET at Evans Mortuary. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 14th, 2026, at 11:00 am ET in the chapel of Evans Mortuary with Bruce Foster & Pastor Steve Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood. Evans Mortuary is serving the family of Mrs. Virginia T. Evans.
