VOLS BASEBALL TEAM DEFEATS LIBERTY 3-1 TO MAKE 1ST SUPER REGIONAL SINCE 2005

The Tennessee Vols baseball team will advance to the NCAA Super Regionals after defeating Liberty 3-1 last night in the Knoxville Region Championship game. The Volunteers (48-16) beat Liberty twice during the regional and advanced to their first Super Regional since 2005.

Max Ferguson and Jake Rucker came to the plate in the bottom of the third. With two outs, In the third inning, Max Ferguson hit a double brining home Jake Rucker to give the Vols a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Drew Gilbert hit a home run with a man aboard to extend the Vols lead to 3-0.

They will host a best-of-three series this upcoming weekend against the Eugene Regional’s Oregon-LSU winner.
