Walter “Sherman” White, 89
Walter “Sherman” White, age 89, went to be with Jesus on April 14, 2026.
He is survived by his sister, Maxine; his brother, Gerald (Betty); and his sister-in-law, Sandy. He is lovingly remembered by his three children, Susan (Luis), David (JJ) and Chris (Tesha).
He leaves behind six grandchildren, Brandi (Brian), Joshua (Renee), Candace (Zack), Madalyn (Scott), Samantha (Arman) and Austin; and four great-grandchildren, Ella, Carson, Aria, and Natalija. He is also survived by his nieces, Lori (Paulie), Kelly (Ken), and Amy (John); and his nephews, Mark, Alan (Lisa), Gary (Holly) and Randy (Kari).
Sherman is also survived by his longtime sweetheart, Joan.
Sherman built a life in Tampa with his late wife, Nancy, with whom he shared 52 beautiful years of marriage. He was a devoted husband, supportive father, and a loving grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He dedicated his 37-year career to TECO (Tampa Electric Company), where he began as a lineman and later retired from a management position. After retirement, he and Nancy relocated to Crossville, Tennessee, where he truly loved living on the golf course and enjoyed the endless backroads, neighbors, and surrounding nature.
There was nothing he couldn’t fix and he spent his free time in his workshop, reading old westerns, watching the History Channel, or gathered around a table with good food and great friends. He also loved traveling to Jackson Hole with Joan, birdwatching and helping anyone in need.
Sherman was a man of strong faith who lived his life guided by his love for Jesus. His kindness, generosity, and servant’s heart were a reflection of that faith, and his legacy will continue to live on in all who knew and loved him.
Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, 3:30 pm, at the chapel of The Preserve at Fairfield Glade, 100 Samaritan Way, Crossville, Tennessee.
