A Tennessee State Building Commission committee is now considering land near Sparta in White County to be the new home of the Upper Cumberland State Veterans Cemetery. The new location comes after attempts to purchase land for the cemetery in Cumberland County fell through earlier this year. Funds for the project is set aside in the previous budget and will not be impacted by any of this year’s budget cuts. The land purchase will be discussed further soon.
