William Baxter McCoy of Crossville, TN was born on January 10, 1943. He went
home to be with the Lord at the age of 82 on March 1, 2025. He was preceded in
death by his parents, James and Marie McCoy, and 2 grandchildren, Austin
McCoy and Alexis Houston. He married his high school sweetheart,
Opal Sapp McCoy, on March 25, 1961. They have 3 children, Keith (Davida)
McCoy of Crossville, Greg (Jeri) McCoy of Portland, TN, Lisa (Billy) Munsey of
Jonesborough, TN. Bill and Opal have 7 living grandchildren, Megan (Nate)
Goodman, Keith (Kamille) McCoy, Stone (Taylor) McCoy, Jennifer (Eric) Diaz, Seth(Taylor) McCoy, Andy (Jessica) Pharris, Candace (Jarrett) Pharris, and 12 great grandchildren.

Bill spent his working career in supervisor positions at General Processing and Crossville Ceramics. He was a charter member of Memorial Baptist Church
where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Director, and in many other roles. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 483 since 1968. He enjoyed sports, camping, and yard work. He was always willing to help people with whatever the need. He was regarded as a Godly, just man, who was witty and fun-loving by his family and friends. He was a walking,
talking testimony for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His favorite Bible verse was
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

The funeral will be held at Memorial Baptist Church, 1858 Sparta Hwy,
Crossville, TN on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at 12:00 noon, with pastors Scott
Monday, Bill Roberts and son, Greg McCoy officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00am.The interment burial will follow at Thomas Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill’s sons and grandsons.
In remembrance of Bill’s life, the family asks that in lieu of flowers charitable
donations be made to Tennessee Baptist Children’s Homes, PO Box 2206,
Brentwood, TN 37024.
