WILLIAM DAVID QUARLES, AGE 76
William David Quarles, age 76 of Crossville, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. David was born December 25, 1947, in Ellijay, Georgia to his late parents Bruce Quarles and Mary Emmaline Davis. A graduate of Ellijay High School Class of ’66, he faithfully served as a US Army Ranger in Vietnam and worked as an electrical process engineer for Mobil Chemical and PACTIV in Covington, Georgia. He was an avid fisherman and woodworker.
Survivors include his wife: Nancy Bliss Quarles of Crossville; daughter: Rachel (David) Johnson; sons: D. Jay, Jacob, and David Quarles; stepchildren: Elizabeth (Brad) Hooper and Cameron (Becky) Erickson; sisters: Martha (Rev. Franklin) Harper and Mary Alice McClure; 8 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother: Eldridge Quarles; sister-in-law: Peggy Quarles; sister: Margie; and brother-in-law: Rev. Marvin McArthur.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 8, 2024, from 4 until 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 1 p.m. at the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Dotson. Interment will follow at the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery. D. Jay Quarles, Brad Hooper, Brent, Darrel, Kevin Harper, and Lamar Walker surviving as pallbearers.
