William Franklin Howell, age 80, of Kingston, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026, at Renaissance Terrace in Harriman. He was born April 14, 1945, in Kingston and has been a lifelong resident of Roane County. He was of the Baptist faith.  William retired from Fox Den, where he had worked as a greenskeeper. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his special fur baby friend, Buddy.

He was preceded in death by his parents: William Buck & Viola Mae Moore Howell; brother: Boyd Howell; and sisters: Willette Breazeale, Mary Woods, Jo Forrester, and Louise Webb.

Survivors include his sons: Charles Howell of Rockwood, Wayne Howell (Becky) of Kingston, and Steve Howell of Oak Ridge; grandchildren: Sharley, Ashley, Jennifer, Tonya, Austin, Joy, John, Joanna, and Breanna; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters: Joyce Green (Jerry) of Harriman, Brenda Hinds (John) of Elizabethton; and Wanda Franklin of Dayton; special niece: Connie Smith of Dayton; special cousin: Darrell Tate of Alabama; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the caring staff of Renaissance Terrace for the compassion and excellent care provided during his time there.
