1 DEAD IN MISSISSIPPI AFTER SATURDAY NIGHT SEVERE STORMS HIT

One death has been reported after severe weather ripped through a portion of northern Mississippi Saturday night. Officials in Monroe County, MS say that a man was killed in Hamilton when a tree fell on his mobile home. They report that 19 people were treated for various injuries afterward, with two reported in critical condition. Hamilton is 140 miles southwest of Memphis. A possible tornado left damage in southeastern Alabama Sunday morning. Damage was reported to several building and powerlines in Troy, about 50 miles south of Montgomery. A mobile home park saw some damage but no injuries were reported. The National Weather Service detected a possible tornado in the area but it’s unclear whether that was the case or damage was caused by straight-line winds. About 60,000 homes and businesses are without power in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama currently.
