10-YEAR-OLD BOY DIES AFTER JET SKI CRASH ON OLD HICKORY LAKE
LEBANON, Tenn. (WSMV) – A young boy died in a jet ski crash on Old Hickory Lake on Tuesday night, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA).
At about 4:30 p.m. deputies responded to the area of Creighton Lane on Old Hickory Lake to reports of a jet ski crash. A juvenile was found critically injured at the scene of the crash, according to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office.
The TWRA said a personal watercraft (PWC) was driven by a 19-year-old female staff member from Boxwell Reservation, a nearby campground for Boy Scouts. A 10-year-old boy was riding as her passenger when they crashed into another PWC, also with a campground staffer operating and a juvenile passenger aboard, according to the TWRA.
Both the 19-year-old female staffer and 10-year-old boy were seriously injured in the collision. She was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center for treatment, but the boy was taken to Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital where he later died, the TWRA reported.
No injuries were reported for either person on the other vessel.
The investigation is ongoing.
The TWRA reports this is the third boating death on Old Hickory Lake in 2024, and the twelfth boating-related death on Tennessee waterways.
