10 YEAR OLD NASHVILLE BOY DIES AFTER BEING ACCIDENTALLY SHOT BY BROTHER
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A child is dead after reportedly being shot accidentally by his stepbrother.
Metro Nashville police responded to a home on Meadowlake Terrace in the Priest Lake area at around 10:30 a.m. Sunday where a 10-year-old had been shot in the head. The boy, identified as Lathan Sweatt, died shortly after being transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Metro Nashville police say the 14-year-old stepbrother of the 10-year-old shot him in the head with a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol while handling it. He reportedly found the gun at the top of a closet in a room upstairs when he, his 12-year-old brother and the 10-year-old went to play video games.
The parents were not home at the time of the shooting, according to police. They were running an errand with two other children.
