$100,000 BOND SET FOR PICKETT COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH VEHICULAR HOMICIDE

A Pickett County man was arraigned in Overton County Criminal Court today on charges stemming from a fatal accident. Troopers says the crash happened last October when a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Michael Lynn Owens of Byrdstown rear-ended a 1952 antique Chevrolet operated by 71-year-old Bob Allen of Cookeville on Highway 111. Allen died at the scene. A grand jury later indicted Owens for vehicular homicide by intoxication and vehicular homicide by recklessness. Court officials say Owens was being held without bond but today in court, the judge set a bond of $100,000 for Owens and set a return court date of April 7, 2020.
