109-YEAR-OLD HISTORIC HOTEL IN RED BOILING SPRINGS CATCHES FIRE
Nick Beres of News Channel 5 reports that a devastating fire has completely destroyed the historic Donoho Hotel in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee.
The 109-year-old landmark, built in 1916 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1986, was one of the last remaining grand white-frame hotels with two-story verandas from the town’s early-20th-century mineral springs resort era. Firefighters from three stations battled the intense blaze, which engulfed the all-wood structure and caused it to burn extremely fast.
Latest updates confirm no injuries: all occupants escaped safely, including one woman who was briefly trapped but rescued by firefighters. Crews remain on scene battling lingering hot spots, but the beloved hotel—continuously operated since its opening and cherished by visitors—is considered a total loss.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
