19-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR DRUNK DRIVING

On Saturday last week at around 1:21 a.m. Officer David Myrick observed a dark Nissan going above the speed limit, 42 mph, and a 30 mph zone on Peavine Road.
The vehicle turned North onto Dartmoor and crossed the center dividing line several times, which is when the deputy initiated the traffic stop. The driver failed to yield and drove completely into the oncoming travel Lane and then finally stopped after about half a mile.
Deputy Myrick made contact with the driver, who did not speak English. The driver also had red, bloodshot, glossy eyes and the smell of alcohol coming off of them. There were several open containers of beer in the back floorboard behind the driver’s seat. The driver was identified as 19-year-old Angel Carrillo.
Due to the language barrier, field sobriety tests could not be conducted properly. Carrillo was detained and placed in a patrol vehicle, which, according to the report, is when the alcoholic odor became even more evident.
Officer Brendel stayed on scene with the vehicle and was able to find several more small open bottles of alcohol in the glove compartment during a pre-tow inventory.
A warrant was requested for a blood draw and executed at Cumberland Medical Center.
Carrillo was taken to the Justice Center and charged with drinking underage and underage driving while impaired. Citations were also issued to him for speeding, failure to maintain lane, and open container. He has a court date set for March 24th of this year.
