MARYVILLE, Tenn. —On Monday, a Maryville man was struck and killed by a train. According to Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong, the man was identified as 30-year-old Daniel L. George.

Investigators believe that George was walking along the railroad tracks on South Old Glory Road when he was struck by a train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies responded to the area just before 4 p.m. on Monday.

An autopsy will be performed at the Knox County Regional Forensic Center.
