4-YEAR OLD STRUCK BY BOAT PROPELLER

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) reports a 4-year-old child was seriously injured on Sunday after being struck by a boat propeller.

The agency says the accident took place on Douglas lake as three children under the age of 8 were swimming with a 44-year-old man. While they were swimming, wind began to separate a rented pontoon boat from the man and children.

A woman on the boat started the engine and drove towards the group in an effort to pick them up when the man’s 4-year-old son was struck in the upper left arm and shoulder by the propeller. The boy was taken by life flight to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with serious injuries.
