58 ACRES PROTECTED NEAR WARTBURG AS CUMBERLAND TRAIL MARCHES CLOSER TO GOAL

Significant conservation progress is underway across Tennessee’s rugged Cumberland Plateau, driven by collaboration, persistence, and a shared reverence for wild places. At the center of these efforts is the Cumberland Trail State Scenic Trail—Tennessee’s first and only linear state park and a flagship priority for TennGreen Land Conservancy.
In October, TennGreen celebrated the permanent protection of approximately 58 acres near Wartburg, further expanding the trail corridor and advancing the vision of a completed 300-mile route from Cumberland Gap National Historical Park to the Tennessee River Gorge. Since its founding, TennGreen has conserved thousands of acres along the trail, including iconic sites such as Black Mountain, Brady Mountain, and Devilstep Hollow through strategic land acquisitions and conservation easements.
Every acre protected reflects the commitment of visionary donors, dedicated partners, local landowners, volunteers, and supporters who have contributed through gifts, trail work, advocacy, or simply spreading the word—together building a lasting legacy for Tennessee’s natural heritage.
