This morning Chattanooga police were dispatched to 1300 N. Holtzclaw Avenue when an ambulance was reported stolen. They had been alerted to the theft after the suspect hopped in and took off from 975 E. 3rd Street. When the officers tried to stop the ambulance after finding it, the driver took off again. This time, ramming into a police vehicle.

Police were able to take the driver into custody. The 66-year-old man was to a local hospital for evaluation.

Charges are pending.
