70,000 CEILING FANS SOLD AT LOWE’S RECALLED

Officials say 70,000 ceiling fans sold at Lowe’s stores nationwide have been recalled because of a injury hazard.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the blade holders on the fan can break, ejecting the blade and posing a risk of injury. CPSC has received 210 reports of the fan blades breaking and ejecting with 10 reports of people being struck by the blade.

The recall involves Harbor Breeze 48-inch Santa Ana Ceiling Fans, model LP8294LBN and UPC code 840506599178.

The model numbers can be found on the fan motor and inside of the battery compartment cover. Consumers are urged to immediately stop use of the fan and contact Fanim Industries at (888) 434-3797 for a replacement of the blade arm.

The fans were sold exclusively online and at Lowe’s locations from May 2014 through January 2016.
