TBI AGENTS INVESTIGATE FATAL OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN RUTHERFORD COUNTY WEDNESDAY NIGHT

Knoxville Police are looking into an alleged shootout that took place at the El Patron Event Center at the Knoxville Center Mall early Monday morning. KPD received multiple calls about gunfire in the parking lot around 3:09 AM. According to witnesses at the scene, several individuals began shooting weapons in the parking lot. Authorities recovered approximately twenty shell casings from different locations in the parking lot. No victims have been located at this time.

TBI Agents continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding a fatal officer-involved shooting Wednesday night in Rutherford County.

Deputies from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of 43-year-old Allon Jones possibly holding family members hostage at a home on Breeze Drive. Deputies tried to negotiate with Jones for a time, but the situation escalated when he reportedly exited the home, brandished a firearm and pointed it at law-enforcement officers.

Deputies subsequently fired at Jones, striking him. He was taken to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. No law-enforcement officers were injured in the incident.
