PIKEVILLE MAN ARRESTED IN CROSSVILLE AFTER EARLY-MORNING TRAFFIC STOP

Just after midnight on Monday, Crossville police conducting a traffic stop noticed both occupants of the vehicle appeared overly nervous and, according to the report, “showing characteristics indicative of criminal behavior.” Police noticed a cap to a syringe on the passenger’s-side floorboard, near where the passenger was said to be “digging in a small bag.”

The driver, 24-year-old Nathan Kenneth Sherrill of Pikeville, admitted having a syringe used for injecting illegal drugs on his person. Another cap to a syringe was found on the front passenger’s seat.

Sherrill’s passenger admitted knowledge of another uncapped syringe in the vehicle.

Sherrill was charged with driving on a suspended license and felony possession of meth.

Officers conducted a search of the vehicle, which turned up approximately 11.6 grams of meth among items of men’s clothing, letters addressed to Sherrill and a photo frame with “Nathan Kenneth” on it behind the driver’s seat.

Jail staff later reported Sherrill had made a phone call to his passenger in which he was said to have asked whether she had moved that “stuff.” She was said to have answered, “No, they took it.” The passenger is not being identified as she was not charged in the incident.
