City, county and state officials responded to calls about a bear wandering about in town yesterday.

First the critter was spotted in Crossville City Cemetery, then at the Roane State campus on Cook Road. Later, he was spotted at the Taco Bell on Peavine Road.

Then late at night he was spotted meandering around the courthouse lawn. TWRA authorities were notified and monitored the bear’s movements until it meandered off into the woods, ostensibly to do what bears do there.
